Our Process

The following is a summary of the typical design and construction process at The Riverview Company.

Preliminary Design Phase

We measure the existing house and complete the design work for the addition based on our review with you of your requirements. We use the survey to analyze the local zoning requirements and the current building codes to verify that the proposed design will comply with regulating agencies. We'll meet with you to review the design drawings and will follow-up with updated drawings for your review and approval.
With an approved preliminary design, we’ll develop a scope of work summary and a preliminary estimate of the cost of work, and we’ll prepare your construction contract.

Design Development Phase

During this phase, we refine the design with you, incorporating your decisions into the design. We will also work with you during this phase on selecting products and finishes such as flooring, wall colors, appliances, and cabinetry. We’ll visit some showrooms with you and will also bring coordinated selections for the project to you for review.
With developed floor plans and elevations, completed design selections and subcontractor quotes, we update the budget. A work schedule is drafted based on your desired timeframe for the project. We present you with the updated design drawings and budget for your approval, and we schedule your construction.

Construction Documents and Specifications Phase

During this phase, we finalize all the design elements of the project and the scope of work, and we produce the construction documents necessary for permit and construction. We will use these documents and final scope to prepare a final budget and final work schedule.

Pre-Construction Phase

Our Project Manager (PM) becomes the designated and dedicated manager of your project. The PM manages the construction, informs you of the construction process, and addresses any questions or concerns you have throughout the project. We obtain the necessary permits to build and perform any pre-build activities. We then move onto the Construction phase.

Construction Phase

You and the PM meet on a weekly basis to discuss progress and upcoming steps. The PM also insures that the work area is kept clean and that your home is secure during the progress of work. At the end of the project, the PM walks through the project area with you and addresses any questions you may have.

After the project is completed, we are here for you along with a warranty you can count on!
